Highland Youth Voice were short-listed in the IPPR (Institute for Public Policy Research
) and the Guardian’s Public Involvement Awards. We were short-listed in the e-involvement category in recognition of the central role of this website for HYV.
So a team went down to London to attend the award ceremony and find out if we’d won. Amy and Judith represented last year’s Executive and Ella, Veronica and Councillor Margaret Davidson (remember from the welcome to Drumnadrochit?) represented HYV staff and sponsors.
Well, the bad new was that we didn’t win our category. This was won by a project from Mencap - Trans-Active
. Still, we did well to become runners-up for this UK-wide award and we got mentioned in the Guardian newspaper. (See the story
The good news was that the Skye and Lochalsh Young Carers' Project came first in the Public involvement in health category.
